I SAID A MOTHER'S PRAYER FOR YOU

I said a Mother's Day prayer for you
to thank the Lord above
for blessing me with a lifetime
of your tenderhearted love.

I thanked God for the caring
you've shown me through the years,
for the closeness we've enjoyed
in time of laughter and of tears.

And so, I thank you from the heart
for all you've done for me
and I bless the Lord for giving me
the best mother there could be!

LYDIA’S CIRCLE RUMMAGE UPDATE

The Spring Rummage Sale went amazingly well.  Our first ever, 3 day Bag-Sale took in $1,998.64 and with a small donation, we went just over $2,000.00.

The women of Lydia circle want to thank all of you who donated items, took time sorting, or worked the sale.  I have to admit that I was concerned that not very many people had signed up to work the Sale. I had no idea who was going to work the check-out areas; however, every day of the Sale, the Lord sent me just the right amount of help.

Thanks to all of you who answered the Lord’s prompting and helped out.  We couldn’t do it without you.

Praise God!

The fall sale dates have been set already.  “Set-up Sunday” will be August 3, 2008.  We will be sorting and organizing from the 3rd through the 13th, and the sale dates are the 14th through the 16th.   The cut off date is August 12th.   Because the Spring Sale went so well, we are considering doing all of the future sales using the 3-day bag sale format.  We would of course continue to have Lydia’s Boutique in the back room for the “better” items.

Also, we have decided to permanently eliminate the Wed.“Early Bird Sale”.

Donations--we ask that you pack your items according to what they are.  For instance, household items in one bag/box, clothing in another, books in another etc.  It will help a lot when we begin the set-up.

**Jewelry and special things should be given to Mae or to me for safe keeping.

One more exciting new thing for Lydia’s Circle.  We now have our very own storage area for the Rummage Sale equipment.  We no longer have to scour the entire church building to find our signs, cash box, display items, etc.  Even the wooden tables will be stored there!

PURCHASING AT MENARDS?

Thinking of doing some home repair soon?  Remember that you can purchase Menard Scrip in increments of $25.00.  These are used the same as cash when you shop.  The church receives 4% at the end of each year, plus an additional 2% in merchandise credit.  This benefits the building fund.  See Marietta Eggert for details.

OUTREACH COMMITTEE UPDATES

Committee members have been contacting the various groups we support to schedule them to present to our congregation.  Soon we will be hearing from Inter-Faith Chaplaincy, Love Inc, Tri-County Pregnancy Center, Pastor Mathew-10/40 updates, and several others.  Our congregation has voted to support these groups financially by tithing 9% of the general fund for their support.

We can also support some of the above mentioned by volunteering.  We are beginning a regular furniture ministry run with Love Inc, and Tri-County is holding their annual Hike for Life on May 10th

Committee members are:  Sandy Blake, Karen Eggert, Cindy & Mike Johnson, Annie Lyons, Jim & Teresa Pillars-chair of committee.  We meet the 3rd Thursday of every month-7pm at the Pillars.  Feel free to join us.

SUNDAY SCHOOL NOTES

As the calendar turns the page to May, we once again start planning for the close of the Sunday school season.

Please join us to support and celebrate Promotion Sunday on June 1st.

The kids will give a short summary of what they have learned throughout the year, and we’ll give out certificates as some of our young people progress to

the next level of education.  Our Sunday school teachers will treat you at coffee hour and wrap up another wonderful year of learning.

Our children are a very important part of the Congregation.  We pray for them and pray God uses us to be models for our children.

Train a Child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.  Proverbs 22:6

NURSERY ATTENDENTS NEEDED

Can you help with the nursery that is provided for our younger children Sunday mornings during the worship time?  This is a great way to get to know some of the little ones, and help out parents at the same time.  There are also helpers available to assist.  Please contact Anne Lyons at the church office.  ***VOLUNTEERS MUST CONSENT TO A BACKGROUND CHECK

SPRING CLEANING AND REPAIR

Spring is finally here, Praise God!!!  There are a few things that need attention around the church...

UPDATE FROM THE CURRYS

Thanks for all your prayers for Rhonda's health!!!!!! She is recuperating on schedule. Our gratitude to God is

great! She has been able to travel with me the last two Sundays speaking in churches and even to offer a few words. This Sunday we will be at Sulphur Springs Christian Church near New Castle, Indiana. In the evening we meet with 3 college girls going to Hope Home for the month of June.

All our Sundays are now booked until departure in September.

We have decided to go forth with the two weeks medical intensive in a primitive setting in the mountains of North Carolina. It is offered by "Equip" in cooperation with "MMI". Basically it is a crash course on hands-on emergency procedures where little or no medical care is available. Taught by medical doctors who have ministered in developing countries, instruction is given for birthing, amputations, and treatments of tropical diseases. Though in India we will be residing in a large city with modern medical care, we will be assisting and training Christian workers who minister in tribal areas with very little medical care.

If the house hasn't sold by June 1, we plan to move to Indiana regardless.

One month is now history as to completely being at the mercy of God for salary, medical expenses, etc. Miraculously, the needed amount of contributions has come. In spite of our embarrassing, tiny faith at times, the Lord is faithful. Should that surprise us?

Again thanks to all the Round Lake folks! We love you and miss not being in your midst.

 Thomas & Rhonda
